Fossil Discovery Center
A website project for a fossil museum — an educational visitor site organized around the three questions every museum website has to answer fast: what's here, when is it open, and how do I plan a visit.
// Overview
What this project is
The design goal was to make a specialist subject feel welcoming to families and school groups without dumbing it down. Exhibits lead the site, and the practical visit information — hours, location, planning — is never more than a click away.
Everything on the site serves the visit: content is structured for someone deciding whether to come, not for someone who already has. That ordering discipline is what separates a visitor site from an institutional brochure.
We label this a “Website project”: we designed and built the website. We use neutral wording here deliberately and are not claiming a client engagement.
// Details
How it was built
Audience
Families planning a weekend visit, teachers organizing school trips, and fossil enthusiasts checking what's on display — all arriving with practical questions first.
Visual direction
Clean and educational, letting specimen photography and exhibit content provide the character rather than decorative effects.
Page structure
Exhibits, hours and visit planning as the primary paths, so the most common visitor tasks are the shortest ones.
Responsive approach
Built to work on the phone in the parking lot as well as the desktop at home — visit-planning details stay front and center at every screen size.
Technical implementation
A modern component-based build with fast static delivery, designed so exhibit and hours content can be kept current.
Conversion design
The site's one job is producing visits: plan-your-visit actions appear wherever a visitor's interest peaks, without competing offers.

What it demonstrates
- How an information-heavy organization can be organized around visitor tasks instead of internal structure.
- A museum-grade content architecture — exhibits, hours, planning — delivered at small-business scale.
- That educational content and a modern, fast website are not competing goals.
